April 2011

It has been a while since I posted so thought I would show you a couple pictures of what I have been doing. This is a quilt I made for Savannah. The squares were all made by the guests at her baby shower in December. I just assembled it and added the border and did a little hand quilting on it. I think it turned out really nice. The idea for everyone to bring a square was Amy's and it was a great one.

These are the three crosses I quilted for the church. They were hung for Easter Sunday and will stay on the side wall for a while then will be moved to the back wall of the church which is where they will stay indefinitely. What a pleasure it was to make these and then see them hanging.

This is where they are currently handling between the stained glass windows.

Here are my three of my favorite girls! I went down to Phoenix last Friday and spent the night with Nick and Shelley and then went to an egg hunt with them on Saturday. This was taken Saturday morning right after we were all waking up. I love being at their house in the morning!

Savannah was having a great time at the egg hunt, however, the only way I could get this kind of a smile from her was because she was looking at her Daddy! He can get the best smiles from her. Hard to believe she is already 3 months old.

This week we are working hard to get ready for the rummage sale at the church and are planning a trip to Phoenix to see the Diamonbacks play a couple games. We have been having beautiful weather here and are thinking about planting our garden soon.

Snow again

Well here it is February 27 and we have 6 inches of snow on the ground. For the second time this year we have had to cancel church services because of the weather. It is, however, beautiful as we now have clear blue skies and the snow is just beautiful.

We were down in the valley all last week for some medical procedures which all went well. We have to wait 4 to 8 weeks to get results from Wayne's tests but mine all came back normal. We also went to the opening game for the Diamondbacks new spring training facility. The park is beautiful and it is good to have baseball again.

Next week we start our annual volunteering duties at Surprise Stadium for spring training. I volunteer as an usher and Wayne is a ticket taker. It is a lot of fun with a lot of really nice people (The Surprise Sundancers (no we don't dance)) and we get to see a lot of baseball. The Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals play at Surprise Stadium and the park is beautiful.
Eric and Amy are very excited because not only did we get to spend all week with them last week we will be seeing a lot of them through March because their house is close to the stadium!!

Well, we have done it again. Seems like everytime we stay in Phoenix for an extended period we make some big purchase. Yesterday we went in to the Honda dealership to get the oil changed in the CR-V. While we were waiting we started looking at this car and before we knew it we were driving it home!! It is a 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour and we love it. It appears that they took the front of the Accord and the rear of the CR-V and put them together. We have more cargo space than we did in the CR-V and the passenger seats are much more comfortable. Because it is a 2010 and because they really wanted the CR-V as a trade-in we got a really good deal. The kids all think we are crazy and maybe we are but we love this new car.

It is red, of course, because we both really like red cars.

We are packing and cleaning up the trailer today to get ready to go home tomorrow. We decided we will unload the trailer while we are here as it is really cold at home right now. It is cold (for us) and windy down here with a high of only 45 - I'm not complaining as I know how cold it is for you guys in the Midwest but it is cold for us!
The baby is beautiful and I will miss holding her. We are babysitting the girls tonight so Nick and Shelley can go out for dinner for their 9th anniversary - works out well for both of us.

Savannah Kay Schroff

In my attempt to be more active on my blog I was planning to post some new pictures of Savannah who was born on Jan. 15, 2011. She weighed 8 lbs. 15 oz and was 21 inches. She is just beautiful and I could hold her all day. Instead of posting pictures I am just going to refer you to her blog www.becausegrandmasaidso.blogspot.com Her Mom has been very good and posted some great pictures there - much better than I could do.

We are in the valley until Feb. 3 and are enjoying the nice, warm weather. Wayne has made a full recovery from his hip surgery but is still fighting the cough. It does seem to be getting better, however.

Enjoy the pictures.
